Ali Holloway: Delta Gamma

Hey everyone, my name is Ali Holloway and I am currently serving my second term as the Vice President of Membership for Delta Gamma. Being a leader in Delta Gamma as well as my experience with the Greek community as a whole has taken my college experience from ordinary to extraordinary. I have met amazing women, worked with influential advisors, and I have reached my full potential as a leader. I owe it all to becoming Greek. Above all the many benefits is that no matter what is going on in my life regarding school, family, and work… I have every single one of my sisters standing behind me willing to help me with whatever I need at the drop of a hat. Being Greek comes with a true sense of unity and knowing that you are not alone with what you are being faced with. It is an irreplaceable feeling, and I love it.

Deciding to go Greek is a big decision, but a very rewarding one. For women who seek service, sisterhood, and academic excellence you can look forward to endless fun activities, leadership opportunities, and sisters who will hold you accountable not only scholastically but morally as well.  Membership with a chapter is meant to last a lifetime, right along with the strong sense of sisterhood and bonds you will develop with all the Greek women who surround you. The decision is yours alone and an exciting one to be made!
I became the Vice President of Membership because of a passion for recruitment I share with several other Greek women I know. We are so excited to meet you all; it is a wonderful experience we get to enjoy once a year. Take advantage of the unique opportunity, because recruitment will be here before you know it! Let your Rho Gamma know if you have any questions, they are great guides for you all. See you soon! :)

Meet the Rho Gamma's

The Rho Gamma's are an amazing group of women who remove themselves from their chapters for the summer in order to provide our potential new members, women joining a sorority, with unbiased support during formal recruitment. We will feature each Rho Gamma group on our blog throughout the summer however you should also check out our Meet the Rho Gamma's pdf on our website: www.wichita.edu/greeklife on the Formal Recruitment home page in order to learn more about each one of these amazing women!

Lisa Walterscheid: Rho Gamma

My name is Lisa Walterscheid and I am a Rho Gamma for Sorority Formal Recruitment in the fall! A Rho Gamma is a recruitment counselor that is a disaffiliated sorority member who guides potential new members through the process of recruitment. A Rho Gamma disaffiliates in order to maintain unbiased while women going through recruitment decide which chapter to call their own. I have the greatest job! Whether it’s an outfit dilemma or just being there to listen, I am here! I get to help women with one of the biggest decisions of their college years – it’s a lifetime commitment! You will never hear someone say that they used to be Greek. I think the one thing that I am excited for the most during recruitment is the chance to make strong, everlasting bonds with women that will be my Greek sisters. I am honored to be able to be a part of this experience.

To be honest, going Greek had never crossed my mind until a couple weeks before Formal Recruitment. My best friend was going through and she told me to go ahead and try it out. Throughout those six days, I fell in love with the chapters at Wichita State. They killed any idea of stereotypical sorority women that I had. Two years later, I can say that I can thank my friend for encouraging me to make one of the best decisions of my life so far. Although we are in different chapters, we are still sisters. After going Greek, I realized all that I had been missing in my life - sisterhood, service, and involvement. Words of advice for Formal Recruitment – smile, relax, and be yourself! If you find yourself feeling nervous, don’t be! Chapter members that you will be meeting will be just as nervous as you are, and I can tell you that from experience. Oh, and one more thing to remember for recruitment… don’t forget to say hi to me! :)

WSU Panhellenic Life!

Welcome to Wichita State Greek life! My name is Brooke Barlow, and I'm the Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment Coordinator. Going Greek is by far the best decision I've ever made, but it wasn't something I always thought I would do. I came to WSU with only a few close friends from high school and had no interest in joining a sorority. My dad convinced me to go through recruitment, so I did and have never looked back. Being Greek isn't what you see on TV; it's life-long friends, future bridesmaids, having a set of values to live by, being a part of something bigger than yourself. Because of Greek life, I've become a better, stronger, happier woman. Before joining a sorority, I could barely speak in front of a class without shaking. But this past February I co-presented a presentation at the largest Greek conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Every single day I wake up proud and blessed to be a part of something so great, and I want others to feel that, too. I encourage everyone to check out  Sorority Formal Recruitment September 7-12. You can visit our website; www.wichita.edu/greeklife to learn more information about the process as well as important dates. You can also add me on Facebook!
